Microblading Lip Blushing
Custom tattooed Permanent eyebrows can be done in any color from the lightest blondes and greys, to beautiful ginger redheads and to the deepest ebony browns. When you see an eyebrow on my website just know that style can be done in any color and is always designed for each client individually. So if you think "Wow that's so dark!", just remember that the brow you are seeing was designed for "Her". You can have that shape or style in your own color!

The most common question I get!

What is the difference between microblading and eyebrow tattooing?

Microblading is a technique that came out a few years ago and the name "Microblading" seemed to take over the industry. You see it everywhere online and in social media. Most clients tell me that's what they want when they book, not knowing there are many different styles. Every few years a new catch phrase comes out but the basics are still the same. ANY time color is implanted under your skin, no matter how it's done it's tattooing. Microblading in it's PURE sense is actually a technique done by hand, with a tool designed to slice into the skin after the tip or the "blade" is dipped in pigment. The "blade" is actually made of lots of tiny needles put together in different sizes and looks a lot like the end of a scalpel, which led to the term microblading. This technique is not as popular as it was many years ago as a lot of artists have now realized that "cutting" skin is not the best technique. It can be done beautifully on young, thick, and very smooth skin but does not give the best results on thin skin, or large pores, oily skin or more mature skin. I do not use this technique in my practice as I have seen very unpleasant results from many artists over the years, having to completely remove and start over in some cases, or do color correction because lines were sliced too deep. In many cases light colors will just disappear in a short time leaving the client returning again and again every few weeks or months which leads to scarring over time. I am often having these clients referred to me by skin care professionals, dermatologists and plastic surgeons due to buildup of scar tissue in the brow area.

My preferred technique is using a digital, cordless tattoo machine designed for the permanent makeup industry with needles in many different combinations, shapes and thicknesses to enable me to do any number of techniques. I actually have 6 different types of machines and multiples of needle configurations from different manufacturers because every client who comes in is unique and needs a brow designed just for them and their skin.
The process!
Chat, pictures, numbing, drawing, tattooing!

First of all we just talk, get to know each other a bit, and discuss the type of brow you desire. What is your normal routine?, do you always wear makeup? and I explain different techniques. I want to know why you want your brows done and your expectations. I want you to understand what's about to happen so you can relax and know you are in good hands. I look at every client in my chair like they are my only client! If I was them, what would I want to know? You need to be calm and relaxed to have the best outcome. Give me your input, your wishes and let me do my job! That way we are both in the best state of mind for a beautiful result.
I use a combination of numbing creams before your procedure to keep you as comfortable as possible. Some clients sleep, while some clients feel a little discomfort. I have at the current time 7 different numbing creams, so if one type does not do well on your skin I can switch up and try something different.

Once your skin is cleaned, and numbed and before photos taken I will pre-draw your brow. During this time we will work together to design a brow that works great for your face shape, bone structure and current brow hairs. If you have no hair it is still easy for me to see where your brow was, or should be, while I am sketching. I do not "map" brows. I kind of have this feeling that you should be able to draw an eyebrow if you are going to tattoo an eyebrow. Mapping looks cool online with all the angles and can give a false sense of perfection to many clients. What I see is most brows that are mapped end up looking all the same from one client to the next. And yes, it's a great tool for some artists but your face is not perfectly even. About 3% of the human race has symmetrical features. Almost everyone has one eye and one brow which is larger than the other and gives a great "canvas". Then we all try to make the other brow match it and it's just about impossible because under the brow your bones and skin are not the same. The trick is getting them close, so you still look like "you", but the best you that your brows can allow. Even after 22 years my own brows don't match perfectly because I have puffy thicker skin on one brow and flatter thin skin on the other. One brow is a little higher than the other. This is where the design phase is so important, and experience matters. After drawing over 20K eyebrows it gets a little easier!

Once your brows are drawn and we agree on the shape and choose the colors that work best for you then the magic happens. I have dozens of colors, and often use more than one when tattooing your brows for a natural more dimensional look. Often the numbing and drawing take far longer than the actual tattooing itself. I will choose the best needle to give you the best style of brow that works best for you!

Ultra-realistic brows are done with very fine needles in a special configuration and are best for smooth skin with no blemishes. They do not work well on skin with large pores, skin coloration differences, or skin that is too thin, has wrinkles or deep lines or visible scarring.

Traditional hairstroke brows are much the same but the hairstrokes are closer together, more uniform in shape and I have a little more leeway with skin. Still not the best for oily skin or large pores but can still give a more hairstroke natural appearance. This is the majority of my procedures!

Combination brows have a looser hair stroke appearance in the middle near the bridge of your nose and a more filled in tail area for a brow that is still natural looking, but a bit more "made up", when you have no makeup on.

Powder brows work for anyone that is a good brow candidate. Hairstrokes are done very close together and heal into a soft color that is uniform in color and saturation throughout the brow and can be done in any color! This is the best option for very mature skin, large pores, oily skin, or skin with discoloration or scarring.

Any of the above techniques can be done in any color. Remember the lighter the color you start with the more often you will need refreshing as dark brunette brows will naturally last longer that soft blonde or light grey brows.

Aftercare is easy but can be a little scary, especially on your first appointment. After your procedure your brows are going to be darker than the desired healed color and in the first couple of days as the scab forms and dries it looks bigger around the edges. This is not reality. What is under the crust is still what we originally tattooed and once your body naturally pushes the crust off (normally the average is 7 days) you'll see a softer more natural looking brow. Healing is a process and the worst thing you can do is try to rush it, use creams I do not give you, or pick the crust. This can cause uneven color and infection. So just follow the printed aftercare instructions I provide and you should have an uneventful easy heal. I do have a little magic trick that I use which is a no sting barrier film I add at the end of procedure. This helps keep color in and bacteria out. It also lets you go a few days without applying ointment to your brows so you don't have shiny brows for the full 7 days. Your body is made to heal itself, so just follow instructions and let it do what it does!

Now for real truth! Most tattooed eyebrows, no matter who does them or how much experience they have, no matter how good the pigments, machines and needles... these brows will blur together over time and look filled in as they age. Your skin is a living thing. It is the largest organ of your body and everyone's skin is unique. But skin is WET! so over time colors are going the "blur out" into the skin and the color will fade. Hairstrokes will not look as "crisp". All tattoos fade, even body tattoos. So my rule of the game is to let at least half of your color soften and fade before returning over the years for refreshes. If you are constantly wanting that fresh, brand now look to your brows you will "fill" your skin with pigment. Think of it as a sponge. It can only hold so much. If you are tattooing every 6 months, in a few years your brow will just be a mottled solid brow and we will need to go in and remove/lighten the color so there is room for more. You cannot tattoo a fresh brown hairstroke on an old solid brown eyebrow and expect it to show up. I hope this makes sense.

There are very few cases of skin that cannot be tattooed. If you are in chemotherapy treatments, have skin abrasions, breakouts or scaly skin in the brow area then I cannot work on that area. Chemotherapy will "eat" your color so it's best to come in a couple of weeks at the latest before starting treatment or waiting until chemo is finished. If you have breakouts such as acne the color will not stay in that area and could cause infection. Make sure skin is clear or reschedule your appointment and work on the skin! If you have spots that could possibly be a skin cancer, raised thick skin areas, or are just not sure what that spot might be, see a dermatologist or your doctor, we can't "cover it up" with ink...

I rarely need to see someone for a consultation, many people send me pictures and please feel free to bring brow pencils and powders so I can see the colors you prefer. I cannot guarantee I can match anything exactly as tattooing heals under your skin and makeup sits on op. But we can get darn close! I also cannot guarantee you will have perfect color in one session. You have the option of ONE detail appointment within 4 months of your initial tattooing for whatever the detail price is at that time. Currently it is $60. You will need to heal for at least 4 weeks before your detail. I would say about 30% of people need a detail.

If you would like a consultation you can book online for a 30 minute time with me for a fee. If you just want to make sure I am not a crazy tattoo shop and you want to meet me, feel free to text or call and I'll give you a good time to just stop in for a minute and chat! Now feel free to look through lots of photos!
