Pre or post chemotherapy Hair Loss, Alopecia,Trichotillomania.
There are many medical reasons for choosing permanent Makeup...
~ Pre Chemotherapy ~
All cosmetic tattooing must be done at least 2 weeks prior to your chemotherapy start date. You need to be completely healed or the effects of the drugs may "eat" your new tattooing or cause infection. If you have already started chemo you must wait until treatments have completed and can have your tattooing done a week after treatments end or when is advisable by your doctor!
You can have Eyebrow Henna done during chemo, it is temporary but may help you be able to draw your brows easier or get you through vacation, special occasions!
This is my friend Leisa! We did her eyebrows before her chemo treatments and I saw her again while helping in a "Look Good Feel Better" class through the American Cancer Society that I was coordinating (years ago!) During the class someone asked her how her brows looked so good and she pointed at me! It made heart warm to know I had helped her get through this difficult time. She has become a wonderful friend and long standing client. She is now healthy, happy, a successful local business owner and a crazy "chicken lady"!!!
This is my friend Lolli, she is a sweet, courageous and beautiful woman facing a difficult cancer journey. When I met Lolli she had big beautiful brows but she knew through her chemotherapy treatments she would undoubtedly lose her eyebrows and eyelashes. She chose to have her brows done because it is the one procedure that can make all the difference in how you see yourself as you lose your own hair. Each journey is different and each persons's choices are different. Eyebrows and eyeliner are always an option...See how Lolli proceeded through her hair loss and nailed it like a rockstar! She's still doing treatments for a bit that will not affect her makeup so we will give her a touchup soon to help make her life easier as her brows grow back in
I'm so proud of you!!!
“Oh my goodness, so many great things to say about this establishment, Earleen, and the power of a little (permanent) makeup!
I found out this year that at 29, I had Stage 3c Endometrial cancer. It was devastating news, and my treatment plan included a hysterectomy, chemotherapy, and radiation.
I was told by my doctor that the type of chemo I was going to go through would make me lose my hair (which I kind of figured), but it would also make my lose my eyebrows and eyelashes. I cried over my eyelashes, as they were a big focal point of my face, and just thought about how my face would look without any hair, eyebrows, or eyelashes. I would have nothing left to frame my face, and I felt like losing eyebrows were the biggest indicator of “being sick.”
I spoke with my mother and future mother-in-law about how I was feeling, and I told them it felt vain but to be honest, it still upset me. They were sweet and told me my feelings were very much validated, and went in half and half to pay for Earleen to work her magic before heading into treatment.
Meeting Earleen, I felt so comfortable with her. She was energetic and sweet, comforting and professional. She informed me that she could do the permanent makeup while I still had eyebrows, going in between them to act as a powder fill. It was a pretty fast process, easier because she uses numbing cream, but you definitely feel when it wears off, so be aware of that!
Having eyebrows when everything fell out helped my self esteem SO MUCH. With eyebrows, people thought shaving my head was just a hair style choice, and didn’t even notice my eyelashes (or lack there of). Even though when it healed it was a teensy bit patchy because my eyebrows were so thick during the tattooing, I kept a lot of color and could easily fill in the spots with an eyebrow pencil.
I NEVER could’ve free handled my loss of eyebrows and trying to draw them in myself every day, so having the shape there already was so helpful!
All in all, deciding to have my eyebrows done before chemo was a great choice for myself, and it was something I had control of to make transitioning into a hairless mole rat a little easier, haha. I highly recommend Asheville Permanent Makeup.
Earleen is a PRO, understanding, and will personalize the makeup to you and your needs.
Thank you so much again, Earleen- you’re truly amazing!”
Lolli is now engaged!!! So excited for them both...
Permanent brows and eyeliner can make a life long problem easier by adding natural cosmetic tattooing to enhance brow and eyelash area. She chose to just have brows but is thinking seriously of having eyeliner also!
Immediately following her procedure... What a difference a brow makes!
Here are a few before and after pictures!
