Frequently Asked Questions and Answers:
Permanent Makeup makes it easier to look better
and feel better around the clock!
Plus you will save time and frustration spent
"putting on your face"!!!
Eyeliner
Permanent eyeliner can be done in very soft or quite dark colors. There are several techniques from a soft smudgy almost "not there" eyelash enhancement, to dark,
straight lined, bold eyeliner. Several colors can be layered to achieve smokey effects. It is difficult to achieve a thick smudgy eyeliner in one sitting so the more eyeliner you want, you will definitely need two appointments to get a good result. That is why I include a free touchup with each full price service.
Eyebrows
Brows frame the face, nothing sets off your look more than brows.
They can be done several different ways. A soft powdery look can be
done with a "wash" of color. More defined hairstrokes can be done to
fill in missing hairs or give a more structured look to the brow. Or a
combination of powder and hairstrokes can be layered to give a very
natural effect. Everyone's brows are different. I would never do dark
brows like mine on a fair skinned blonde. There are very light colors
to do soft brows as well as every color of blonde, brown, taupe,
brown black, charcoal or any mixture whatsoever. Each client
gets a custom look done just for them!
Lip Color
Lip color can define the edges of your lips that have faded away,
full color can give back that youthful blush! Lip colors are difficult
to match to conventional makeup so there are limited choices to what will
look good on each person. There is no way to get beet red lips with
permanent makeup, if you have seen this on someone it was done
with tattoo type ink instead of pigment and this I will not do!! If you
want a natural look, I will be happy to help you. Lips are a little
uncomfortable to heal because of the chapping, but it is well worth
it in the end. Whether it be a lip line or full color, it will surely
make a difference to bring back a youthful glow to your mouth!
Beauty Marks
Beauty marks can be put anywhere on the face except over an existing mole.
Play with a makeup pencil to find the exact right spot, Like "Marilyn" or
Cindy Crawford!! It just takes a few minutes and is very reasonably prices,
just the cost of a tray set up!
Scar Camouflage
When you lose pigment in your skin, it appears as white patches. This can result from trauma, burns, vitiligo, or a number of unknown reasons. Flesh colored pigments can be used to give the appearance of skin tones in this white area.
It will not match the skin exactly, but it will make the spot less prominant.
Vitiligo clients may have trouble getting good matches on hands. This is an advanced procedure that can take many appointments and not everyone is a
good candidate. A thorough consultation must be done before scar
camouflage is attempted.
Will I still look like myself?
Absolutely, only better. Permanent Makeup is designed to enhance your natural features. Applied correctly, it will appear from very mild to moderately dark. Permanent Makeup will never looked like conventional makeup because once healed, it is UNDER a veil of your skin. I always ere on the side of natural as it is easier to darken pigments than to lighten them.
What IS Permanent Makeup?
Permanent Makeup is the art and science of applying pigment INTO the skin in a tattoo method. If anyone tells you differently, they are lying. Since the pigments
are deposited into the dermal layer of your skin they are considered permanent. Some particles of pigment will remain in your skin indefinitely even if they are not seen by the naked eye. Permanent Makeup will fade over time and WILL need to
be touched up. It is a process not a procedure and sometimes more than one application is necessary to achieve the desired result. If at any time you feel uncertain or are not comfortable with the procedure it is advised that you wait
until you feel completely sure.
How long is recovery?
Each client is unique, but the general guidelines are: Eyeliner 5-6 days, Eyebrows 4-5 days, Lip Procedures 7-9 days, Areola Pigmentation 10-14 days.
This time includes 24-36 hours of slight swelling and redness, followed by
natural exfoliating and rebuilding of the tissues. The majority of my clients can resume normal activity immediately upon leaving the clinic. IF YOU HAVE A HISTORY of cold sores it is mandatory to pre medicate as advised by your doctor
as tattooing lips WILL bring out cold sores. Sleeping with the area slightly e
levated may help
as well as drinking LOTS of water. You will be given specific after care
instructions as well as ointments to apply to the area. You will be advised to
follow up all initial appointments with a touch up in 4-6 weeks.
How Long Will It Last?
I wish I could predict the outcome of each person but it is not possible. I have seen cases of black eyeliner that lasts for 10 years but this is not to be expected. Most people will need a touch up every 2-3 years. Some sooner. Many factors effect the lifespan of your makeup. Smoking, sun exposure, medications, skin treatments , and illness are a large factor, with sun exposure being the leading cause of fading. The darker the color you start with the longer the color will last as a general rule. The pigments developed for permanent cosmetics are NOT the same types of inks used in traditional tattooing.
Does it hurt?
I have heard some unbelievable stories from clients who have had painful experiences with permanent makeup in the past. New topical anesthetics have
been developed specifically for permanent makeup procedures which greatly minimize any discomfort. I am VERY good at making sure you are comfortable before I start the procedure. Everyone's tolerance to uncomfortable situations is different. You will feel a vibrating sensation around your eyes, and your brows
may tend to tickle. Lips take a little more time and patience to anesthetize but
can be done with very little discomfort.
