Asheville Permanent Makeup Clinic - Areola Tattoos
Asheville Permanent Makeup Clinic - "Beauty For Every Woman"

This is a procedure I perform at little or no charge for Breast Cancer Patients. It is my way of giving back and appreciating all that every woman has been through in their struggle to survive. I dedicate every Areola Pigmentation to my mother who died of cancer in 1980. She helped make me the strong and confident woman I am today and I miss her every day.

Areola pigmentation is often considered the "Last Step" after breast reconstruction surgery. My facility offers a warm inviting atmosphere both professional, and comfortable to make the procedure a pleasant experience.

The simulation of a natural areola on the reconstructed breast mound gives the appearance of natural looking areolas and nipples.

The procedure is performed in a sterile fashion with the clients comfort and safety in mind.

Color simulation is not always a perfect match as skin tones vary. The color will fade over time and touch ups will be necessary.

Questions answered!

How long do I wait after surgery to have my tattooing?

Your reconstructive surgeon will guide you as to when you are healed enough and ready for the procedure. It is necessary to follow all your doctor's instructions in order to have a desirable outcome. If nipple construction is performed, you will need to let the scars mature for a few weeks before tattooing the area to help reduce the risk of infection and improve color retention.

Can I choose my own colors?

Of course, but I will guide you to the colors I think will work best with your skin tones or to match an existing areola on the natural breast. The tattoo, once healed, is actually under your skin, so the tone and texture of your skin will make a difference in the color once healed.

Will it hurt?

I find each client's reaction to stressful situations is different. Of course a lot depends on the amount of feeling you have in your reconstructed breast. If there is discomfort, I will numb the area with anesthetic cream to make it as comfortable as possible.

How long does it take to heal?

The main healing time may take 5-7 days with the most uncomfortable sensations in the first 24 hours. If you have no feeling in your reconstructed breast you will have no discomfort during healing. You may have ongoing flaking and a tight feeling to the skin for 2-3 weeks. Each person heals differently so I cannot  predict each person's outcome. You will be given after care instructions, how you perform your aftercare is as important as the treatment, so please follow all instructions and guidelines for the best healed result.
